A round trip to the Upper Moselle

This varied circular tour connects the Saar, Moselle and Sauer rivers with a short detour into Luxembourg.

It starts in Saarburg. At first, you follow the Saar Cycle Path downstream to Konz. From there, the Moselle Cycle Path takes you comfortably to Oberbillig.

In Oberbillig, you cross the Moselle to Wasserbillig in Luxembourg via the Sankta Maria ferry.

After crossing, you cross the Sauer river and cycle along scenic banks back towards Germany. Passing Igel, you reach the railway bridge in Konz, cross the Moselle again and get back to Konz.

Then you follow the Saar Cycle Path upstream again via Kanzem, Schoden and Ockfen back to Saarburg. Along the way, you will find beautiful river landscapes, wine villages and wonderful views of the valleys of the Saar, Moselle and Sauer.

Approach

You can reach Saarburg from Perl and Zerf via the B 407 and from Konz via the B 51.

DB route Koblenz - Trier - Saarbrücken up to Saarburg station.

Parking

Free and all-day parking is available in Saarburg at the park-and-ride lots between the swimming pool and opposite the entrance to the REWE market. Paid or time-limited parking is available at the city parking lot (with day ticket), Heckingplatz, Fruchtmarkt, the parking deck behind the town hall, the parking deck at Kunoweiher, and at the train station (with day ticket).

Saarburg - Saar Cycle Path: left Saar bank to Konz - Saar estuary - Moselle Cycle Path to Oberbillig - Ferry crossing Sankte Maria - Wasserbillig (Lux) - over the bridge to Wasserbilligerbrück - Moselle Cycle Path - Igel - railway bridge - crossing the Moselle - Campsite Konz - Saarterraces Konz - Filzen - Kanzem - Weir - Schoden - Ockfen - Saarburg.
