The Moselle, Saar and Sauer are not just waterways; they also provide vital habitats and food sources for many species of flora and fauna. Much of their banks are protected as areas of particular natural value.
By behaving in a sustainable and considerate manner, you can help ensure that this natural environment remains accessible for many years to come.
- Please do not ride into or around vegetation (e.g. reeds, rushes), directly along the banks or through the Moselle’s oxbow lakes, as these areas often contain breeding and spawning grounds that are sensitive to disturbance. Groups should ensure they stay together
- Avoid making noise so as not to disturb the animals.
- Special jetties have been built on the Moselle, Saar and Sauer specifically for boaters to get on and off their boats or to take a break. Please use only these designated entry and exit points to help protect the rest of the riverbanks.
- Please dispose of any rubbish in the bins provided at the designated embarkation and disembarkation points or rest areas.
- For overnight stays, you can use the designated camping and motorhome sites, as well as a wide variety of hotels, guesthouses and inns. Wild camping is strictly prohibited in the valleys of the Moselle, Saar and Sauer.
