This route runs on forest paths through the forests of the Kammerforst to the estate in Serrig.
The estate is a facility for people with disabilities in the region, with residential buildings, various farm buildings, stables, and workshops (including basket weaving and butchery). The core is agriculture, growing various fine fruit varieties and vegetables as well as integrated animal husbandry. In the estate shop, it is possible to purchase estate products. The opening hours can be found at www.hofgut-serrig.de. After a detour to Heiligenborn, the route leads through the wine village of Serrig to the Saar. At the weir, the cycle path crosses to the opposite Saar bank and leads below the state monument Klause, past the districts of Staadt and Krutweiler, back to medieval Saarburg. Here, you should definitely park your bikes and take time to see the cultural highlights of the town such as the waterfall, the castle, and the medieval old town.

You can reach Saarburg from Trier or Saarbrücken via the B 51. From Hermeskeil or Perl, the B 407 leads into the town of Saarburg.
Via Hauptstraße and Schadallerstraße, you reach Königstraße. Follow this street to the parking lot at the youth campsite.

The route starts at the parking lot of the youth campsite on Königstraße in Saarburg-Beurig. Initially, it goes uphill for about 1.8 km through the forest of the Kammerforst to the estate in Serrig.

In the estate shop, along with meat and sausage products, handcrafted goods are also sold. The offer is rounded off with a product range of eggs, noodles, jams, honey, juices, and fine spirits. A seating area invites you to relax. The next destination is the Chapel of Heiligenborn. A farm road runs along the Serriger creek via Domänenstraße and Bachstraße, past the fishing pond to the Chapel of Heiligenborn. In close proximity to the chapel is a spring to which healing powers were attributed. The healing effect rooted in popular piety is evidenced by a wayside cross dated 1768. It was incorporated into a renewed chapel in the 19th century. A plaque, placed sideways inside the chapel, informs about the origin story: A man from Beurig returned home from a business trip in the Losheim area. He was carrying a lot of money. Two robbers knew about it and wanted to rob him, maybe even kill him. When the man reached the spring of the creek, he heard the robbers in the bushes planning their robbery and murder and then approaching him. Escape was impossible. He hastily hid behind a hazel bush and called upon the Virgin Mary for help. The robbers did not notice him, and he got home safely. At the spring of the Serriger creek, the rescued man had a chapel with an image of the Virgin Mary built. Pilgrimages still take place there annually.
After this detour, you return to Serrig. Via Losheimer Straße, Bahnhofstraße, and Saarstraße you finally reach the Saar Cycle Path. You follow the river in the direction of Taben-Rodt and cross the Saar at the weir.
The Serrig weir, with its 14.5 meters fall height, is one of the largest weirs in all of Germany. The hydropower plant operated by Innogy can generate about 51.1 million kilowatt-hours per year with a power output of 12 megawatts, thus supplying electricity to 14,000 private households. Two transformers feed the energy generated under the water surface into the power grid.
Behind the weir, the route continues downhill to the right. In this section, the Saar Cycle Path leads through a short forest area where the Pinschbach flows into the Saar. At the mouth of the creek, you can cool your feet in the clear water on hot days.
Take a look upwards as well. High above the Saar, on the tip of a protruding sandstone rock, lies the Klause of Kastel-Staadt. The burial place of the blind King Johann of Bohemia is a masterpiece of the famous Prussian architect Schinkel and today an important state monument.
Passing the idyllic Staadt district, the route follows an asphalt road through Krutweiler towards Saarburg.
Here you should definitely park your bikes and take a stroll through the town. Visit the Horse and Butter Market with the waterfall, the castle, as well as the medieval old town.
Before you reach your starting point by passing the station and through the Beurig district, perhaps a glass of wine at the Saarburg wine shore invites you for a little indulgence break. In the pavilion above the ship landing stage, winemakers from Saar and Upper Mosel present their wines. The winery changes monthly, offering new wine selections. The wine stand is open from April to October on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 12:00 p.m.

This suggested route runs on forest paths, through towns, and on the Saar Cycle Path. There is no uniform signage for the route.
The historic vineyard narrow-gauge railway runs on the 1.2 km circular route along the pastures and stables, providing insights into the estate's agriculture.
