The circular route is 13.9 km long and is classified as moderate. Including breaks, one should plan about 4.5 hours. The hiking path includes 2 major ascents. Through the Schweich city forest, you reach the charming wine village of Bekond and from there along the Enscher and Mehringer forests to the Landwehr Cross located at just under 400 m altitude. On the following descent towards Schweich, the hiker is treated to one or another splendid view of the Mosel valley near Longuich and Schweich.
The path is marked with "R 3".
The circular hiking route impresses with a varied landscape. A highlight on the route is certainly the wonderful view of "Rupperoth" over the Mosel valley near Longuich & Schweich.

At the midpoint of the route in the wine village of Bekond, hikers can enjoy stocking up on fruit at the Portz estate. In the town of Schweich, which serves as the start & finish point of the route, there are also numerous dining establishments.
Bekond Castle with Orangery: Privately owned. Redesigned in 1709 for the Trier cathedral provost von Kesselstatt (design by Ravensteyn). The castle garden with a large orangery from 1732 was transformed into a landscape garden in the 19th century. With a lot of energy and commitment, the orangery of Bekond Castle was restored, so it offers space for 120 people at round tables. Here you can celebrate beautiful and impressive events such as weddings, big birthdays, or corporate parties on site.
Landwehr Cross: On the Hummelsberg (407.2 meters above sea level); on the border with Mehring. A simple sandstone pillar cross from the late 19th century standing among trees. The stepped pillar base with an inscription in a pointed arch niche, the small top cross with a corpus crafted in low relief.
