The first section of the Huxlay Plateau route is characterized by a longer ascent that leads the hiker to a four-way junction just below the Zitronenkrämerkreuz. After passing this junction towards a nearby hunting stand, you walk, after a short descent through a small wooded area, along the upper edge of the Mehringer Goldkupp to the Huxlay hut.
On this section, starting from the Mehring chapel, there are several resting places with beautiful views of the Moselle valley at Mehring. The descent to Mehring along the wine educational trail and the charming Moselle streets of the village ends again in the village center. The route is marked with „R 5“.
The route around the beautiful wine village of Mehring is 9.8 km long and classified as medium difficulty. With breaks, you should plan for 4-5 hours.

Finnish Track → Mehring offers a new sporting attraction with the Finnish track. On the Moselle terrace with a magnificent view into the Moselle valley, you can train your fitness in a relaxed way on the 1.1 km long track. The soft wood chips on the running track make the Finnish track particularly gentle on the joints, and it also strengthens the leg muscles.
