The route is 10.5 km long (14.3 km with the connecting path VR 7) and categorized as easy to moderate. With breaks, you should plan for 5 hours. The profile of the Schleicher Kuckuck route allows for some variations. The best approach is to simply start walking and enjoy the charming wine culture landscape of the Roman Wine Road. The route is marked with "R 7" - via the connecting path "VW R7" you reach the Schleicher Grill hut and can theoretically also hike to the Zitronenkrämerkreuz and on the R6 hiking trail as well as on the left Moselle hillside path towards Ensch.

Roman aqueduct Pölich: Where there is no well, there must be an aqueduct, thought the ancient Romans, and they led the water needed for baths and consumption from the slopes of the Voreifel to the village. Those who want to get an impression of such an ancient aqueduct should visit the excavations and reconstructions above the church. There, the water supply belonging to a Roman estate bath facility was uncovered in the vineyards. The aqueduct is freely accessible.
View of the Detzem weir: Since the Moselle canalization, Detzem has had the second and highest (9 m) weir in Germany. Large locks, 165 m long and 12 m wide, allow the passage of freight ships and even push convoys. Interested visitors enjoy watching the massive ships being raised and lowered.
