Hiker sets the start or end of the circular hiking trail independently within the village of Brey. Parking is available along the village streets near the outskirts of the village. In addition, the village square (directly on Rheingoldstraße between house numbers 14 and 18) centrally in Brey always offers sufficient parking facilities.
Starting from the northern outskirts of the village, circular route no. 5 leaves the village streets of Brey at the "Römereck" rest area and from now on runs almost exclusively on unpaved paths and trails. After just under 200 m downhill, after the signpost "Sauerbrunnen," you can refill your drinking bottles with fresh spring water at the enclosed Sauerbrunnen "Börnchen" by a small detour down into the Tauberbach valley. Don't miss this opportunity – this detour of approx. 50 m is worth it, as the spring water is of extraordinary quality, freshness and taste!
Equipped in this way, after climbing the stairs again, the hike on circular route no. 5 can continue westwards. The eyes gradually lose sight of the last settlements of the neighboring village Rhens and we enter the forest under densely growing treetops along the Tauberbach valley. Always following the course of the Tauberbach on the right side, the circular route runs along the Brey village boundary deeper and deeper into the quiet and peaceful forest. The shady green of the natural valley is a soothing relaxation for eyes and mind. Neither agricultural traffic, well-trodden tourist paths nor exuberant leisure actors disturb the relaxing and quiet hiking enjoyment here. Although the highest point of the circular route lies at the Klostergut Jakobsberg, the ascent through this peaceful valley is very moderate as the path climbs steadily and only very slowly. Halfway along the route, the highest point is reached in the far west at Jakobsberg, and after a short view over the adjacent golf course, the circular route plunges back into the shady mixed forest. After a short detour through the "Bucholzer Wald," the further route takes us down through the Brey valley with an equally steady and moderate gradient as the ascent. The primeval and unspoiled course of the Breybach now accompanies us through the equally quiet and shady parallel valley to the Tauberbach valley towards the east. Along this service road down towards Brey, the valley opens only slowly, to finally allow a view of the Brey sports field facilities shortly before the end of the route. Here there is the option to follow the dream trail "Rheingoldbogen" or the "Panoramaweg" or to visit the nearby Roman water supply for an archaeological tour. However, we follow the original path down to Brey to reach the outskirts of Brey again after a few hundred meters.
For your own safety and to protect the flora and fauna, please always stay on the marked paths. The hiking trail has partially steep, difficult, and slippery sections in rain or winter weather. Therefore, surefootedness and good fitness are essential requirements.

In case of an emergency, quick help is needed. And although mobile phones can send GPS signals, classic rescue points are often the fastest. These are located at places easily accessible by rescue vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign when calling for help. This way, rescuers know where to find you.

- Weather-appropriate clothing, if necessary in a layering principle.
- Backpack with provisions: Sufficient to drink and, if necessary, food, as there are not always dining or shopping opportunities available or open.
- Depending on the weather, sun or rain protection, as well as mosquito/tick protection.
