The striking, approximately 6 km long circular route "Plattener Schweiz" is part of the last Lieserpfad stage from Wittlich to Lieser on the Mosel. Impressive is the path leading through a charming forest along the lively Steinbach and above the Lieser. Natural, narrow forest paths, small bridges and footbridges, and the partly demanding alternation between uphill and downhill sections guarantee a varied, sometimes challenging hiking pleasure. The vigorous round is marked with the Lieserpfad route signs, P3 and P2. Free parking spaces are available at the start of the circular route, directly on the Maare-Mosel cycle path on Bahnhofstraße. On request, the route can be combined with numerous other hiking trails and thus extended as desired. Recommended for personal tour planning is hiking map no. 24 of the Eifelverein "Gate to Eifel and Mosel - Wittlicher Land".
The impressive "Plattener Schweiz" round leads partly demanding over narrow, soft forest paths accompanied by the Lieser and lively Steinbach.
Platten is accessible via the A1 and A60 motorways. Take the B50 towards Bernkastel, exit Platten.

Free parking is available on the Maare-Mosel cycle path on Bahnhofstraße, at the old station in Platten.
From the parking lot, follow the Maare-Mosel cycle path initially in the direction of the Winzerhofcafé Görgen. Before the winery's parking lot, the circular route turns left and leads over a gravel path to the entrance of the Plattener Schweiz and to the "meeting point" with the Lieserpfad. The entrance to the "Plattener Schweiz" is marked by a wooden gateway. Through the gate, the circular route follows the Lieserpfad markings to the right and steadily climbs along the forest edge accompanied by the watercourse. The path continuously narrows and becomes a winding narrow forest path, sometimes secured with hand ropes. Narrow bridges help cross small mountain streams that loudly rush into the Lieser. Important note for hikers with dogs: the bridges partly lead over grate covers, which not all dogs like! Upon reaching the height, the circular route leads through a tranquil forest area with a view of the Lieser in the valley. It turns left, and after a few meters, the lively Steinbach in the valley can be seen. The circular route steadily descends alongside the stream. The natural path over roots and stones, stairs with handrails, and a narrow footbridge over the Steinbach require attentiveness and sure-footedness, as does the subsequent ascent. The path continues through the forest until it reaches a paved farm road with a second wooden gateway. Here, the circular route leaves the Lieserpfad, which leads to the right towards Altrich and Wittlich. The "Plattener Schweiz" round bends left and follows the farm road along the quarry and over the Plattener fields back to the village. It goes steeply downhill into the town via Bergstraße. On the left-hand side, the village fountain is passed before the route returns to the starting point via the street "Zum Wiesental".
After heavy rainfall, the natural forest paths can be very slippery.
Hiking shoes with good tread and trekking poles for support.
Before and/or after the hike, a visit to the Winzercafé Görgen is recommended. The beer garden and inn invite you to dishes from the vintner's kitchen.
