The route is classified as easy to moderate. With breaks, you should plan for 3-4 hours. The first section features an ascent to the Vogtel viewpoint, which offers a charming view of the winegrowing community of Fell. The further route over the winegrowing community of Fell, the district of Fastrau, to the start and finish point in Riol mostly runs along well-passable vineyard paths and should not pose greater exertion for the hiker. The path is marked with "R 12".

With the new MOSEL hiking map titled "Vacation Region Schweich on the Roman Wine Road," the Eifelverein expands its hiking map series along the Mosel with now the fourth map at a scale of 1:25,000.
