For the Insel Wine Trail, the parking lot at Winningen train station is recommended. Motorhomes can also be parked there. The entrance to the wine trail is only 400 meters away.
The path leads along the Mosel to the Swan Pond on the island Ziehfurt. A peninsula leads to the island, with waters on the right and left where animals like grey herons, ducks, or swans live. The Insel Wine Trail starts at the wine estate and invites you to a walk along the Mosel. The flat route passes the heated swimming pool and the marina with the large yacht harbor to the holiday island and back. Here the Mosel with its leisure captains, the large luxury ships of river cruisers or freight barges, there the view of the Mosel valley bridge of the A61 and the steep slopes of the vineyards: It is worth strolling and looking, also on the island Ziehfurt, where guests from all over the world meet for camping. There are several places to stop for a meal. On the way back (attention: you must cross the federal road 416 for this), the path invites you to a short history lesson in the village before the starting point wine estate is reached again.
For your own safety and to protect flora and fauna, please always stay on the marked paths. The hiking trail has some steep, difficult, and slippery sections when wet or in winter weather. Therefore, surefootedness and good fitness are essential requirements.

If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please heed the instructions for your own safety.
Danger situations:
In case of an emergency, quick help is needed. And even though cell phones can send GPS signals, the classic rescue points are often fastest. These are located in places that are easily accessible for rescue vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign when calling for help. This way, rescue teams will know where to find you.
For the best hiking experience, we recommend you follow the designated hiking direction (see arrows on the map). Arrow signposts in the colors of the wine trails show you the direction along the way.
