Koblenz is easily accessible from all directions. Arrival by train is possible without any problems from Mainz and Frankfurt as well as from Bonn, Cologne, or Stuttgart.
The city is also very well reachable from surrounding towns and cities via a well-developed bus network.
You start at the Emperor Wilhelm Monument at the German Corner and initially pass the valley station of the cable car to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Continuing along the Rhine bank path, you pass under the Pfaffendorfer Bridge, go through the wine village, and pass the Empress Augusta Monument. Shortly after another bridge, you take the right path leading to a railway underpass. You cross Jahnstraße and go straight through two car barriers into a small wooded area. There, you walk under the feeders of the South Bridge. Beyond a wooden bridge, turn right, climb a few steps, and use the pedestrian crossing aid to cross the usually busy B9. On the other side, go straight into the street and after about 300 m turn left onto a rising path. It winds steeply in switchbacks up to the parking lot of the memorial site for the Rittersturz Conference, offering a first beautiful view of the Koblenz basin.
You proceed straight across the parking lot into the forest and reach a fenced private property. Stay on the slightly hilly path along the fence. At a junction shortly after the wooden bridge over Königsbach, keep left first, then take the slightly uphill right path. Soon you reach another junction which you cross straight ahead, then continue to an information board. Here you are guided to a shelter with a view of Dommelsberg. In front of the viewpoint, turn right. After a short downhill section, you must turn left and immediately climb several meters again to reach the Weidgenhöhe shelter. Then you join a wide gravel path leading gently downhill to the next challenge: the 500 m long steep climb to Hasenberg. At the top, the red-white hut located to the right above the path offers a place to rest.
Opposite the shelter, the path continues now towards the Koblenz district of Stolzenfels. Along the way, you can catch a glimpse of Stolzenfels Castle through the woods. At the next junction, turn right and stay on the descending path until you reach a shelter which you leave to the right. If you want to visit the castle, take the second left turn here. From there it is about 600 m to the entrance. The Pilgrimage Route continues on the now ascending wide path. Here you walk concurrently on the Mosel Camino marked from Stolzenfels to Trier. Bird and bat boxes with yellow arrows and shell waymarkers unmistakably show the way. You ignore the following left turn and stay on the wide path until you come to a cross path, where you turn left onto a gravel path. You cross a bigger junction straight ahead and reach the point where the Mosel Camino and Left Bank Rhine Pilgrimage Route separate again. A sign on the back of a wild bee hotel shows the directions of the two pilgrimage routes. You take the path turning left. Then you continue on the descending path to a fork in a clearing. There you must take the narrow path into the forest on the left. You cross a wide path, cross it straight ahead, and finally turn into the next right, slightly descending path. At the edge of the forest, a "sense bench" invites you to take a rest. To the right above, there is also a shelter.
From the bench, you walk downhill on a grass path into another wooded area. At the fork ahead, choose the slightly rising path. You pass a seating group and walk in the shadow of the forest edge past farmland until you reach the St. Antonius shrine ahead. Your path now leads right through orchards to the L 208, which you cross. You keep left at the next two turns and reach the old Jewish cemetery of Rhens in the forest. Just a few steps further, you turn sharply left behind a transmission mast and walk below it in switchbacks over a clearing, partly steep downhill (caution when wet – risk of slipping). From a bench, you have a wonderful view of Rhens and, in the background, of Marksburg on the opposite Rhine side. After the switchbacks, you walk a short stretch along a fenced area, then first turn right and then before a wooden shed turn left. At a walnut tree, the path forks again. To the left, you reach the Rhenser Königsstuhl after about 200 m with a great view; to the right, past a red-and-white barrier to Rhens, to the street at Viehtor, where today's stage ends. Through the Viehtor, you can already see the historic town hall in the center of Rhens.
