DB route Trier-Koblenz to Schweich station.
From Schweich station follow the hiking Moselsteig signs towards Mehring to the hiking & mountain bike parking lot at the reservoir above the motorway underpass Schweich (approx. 2.1 km).

Schweich - through old town under A1 to reservoir
From the sports field Bekond, you reach the golf course Ensch along the forest edge, then descend across open vineyards and meadows into a small forest, from there through vineyards (first view of the Mosel) to the outskirts of Ensch ( Entry Ensch ), through the Kautenbach valley to the Enscher Sauerbrunnen. Here a longer forest section begins; after passing the nature/bird teaching path, you continue over open fields, then enter the Pölich forest. After approx. 200 m, separation from
Route 1: gentle ups and downs in the Pölich forest out into the vineyards, past the chapel to the barbecue hut ( Entry Pölich / Mehring ) (2.2 km, ascent: 99 m, descent: 110 m) and
Route 1+: single trail descent, followed by 200 m asphalt, then vineyard path, finally level through forest and vineyard to the outskirts of Pölich ( Entry Pölich ), from there ascent past the wayside cross ( Entry Mehring ) to the barbecue hut (4 km, ascent: 225 m, descent 236 m).
Immediately afterwards, you reach the Huxlay hut above Mehring with a magnificent panoramic view over the Mosel valley. From here, a lovely section between forest and vineyards above Mehring leads to a short single-trail descent, afterwards the routes split again
Route 1: through vineyards and grassland to the forest edge over Longen, then between forest and vines to the viewpoint opposite Longuich (2.8 km, ascent: 93 m, descent: 67 m) and
Route 1+: through the Mehring Aul forest, ascending to the highest point of the tour: Hummelsberg (413 m) with subsequent single-trail descent (caution hikers!) to the viewpoint opposite Longuich (5.8 km, ascent: 184 m, descent 158 m).
Then it continues between forest and vineyard past the Rupperoth hut downhill to the Schweich reservoir ( Entry Schweich / connection through Schweich to Route 2 "Meulenwald"). From the reservoir, ascent through the meadow valley past the historic Morgenstern pit, then through the Schweich forest back to Bekond. You reach the sports field via
Route 1: direct downhill path along the forest edge (0.8 km, ascent: 0 m, descent: 40 m) or via
Route 1+: completing the cross-country race track on a fairly varied single-trail loop in the adjacent forest (2.1 km, ascent: 78 m, descent: 118 m).
Nature and mountain biking
It is the greatest happiness for mountain bikers, away from the traffic noise of busy roads, even off heavily frequented bike paths, to enjoy the charms of nature and landscape, the quiet of the forests and the diversity of open countryside.
Using nature, whether as a solitary touring cyclist or as a participant in a training group, must be combined with the awareness that misconduct can cause damage to forests and fields, flora, and fauna.
Reasonable general behavior and a few basic rules ensure that mountain biking does not become a nuisance.
