From the parking lot at the Unkensteinhalle, Plein is left via the Pl 4 marking, which comes in the form of well-maintained wooden signs, passing the farm along the farm road. Moss-covered rocks, dense mixed forest, and the murmur of the nearby Lambach stream are constant companions on this varied route. Small rivulets with partly impressive waterfalls flow from the slope towards the Lambach and repeatedly cross the hiking trail. Sturdy, waterproof footwear is recommended. The beautiful wooden markings reliably show the way. The path passes the old Plein train station; shortly thereafter, the Pleiner Waldschlösschen, now a small but fine beer manufactory with a cozy restaurant and beer garden, invites stops and rest. A little further on, the hiking trail turns right again; it goes steeply uphill back to the village. Along the main street, past lovingly restored cross houses and the rustic Gasthaus Bayer, the route leads back to the parking lot.
The 6 km long loop marked with "Pl 4" starts at the parking lot at the Unkensteinhalle and leads accompanied by the Lambach stream through the forest, past the train station and Waldschlösschen.
Leave the town from Wittlich center via Pleiner Weg or Kalkturmstraße, then follow the district road K 21 for about 5 km. Turn left behind the church into Schladterweg to the parking lot at the Unkensteinhalle.

From the parking lot at the Unkensteinhalle, Plein is left via the Pl 4 marking, which appears as well-maintained wooden signs, passing the farm along the farm road. The path initially leads over meadows and fields until it turns right into the forest. Moss-covered rocks, dense mixed forest, and the murmur of the nearby Lambach stream are constant companions during the continuous descent. Soon the route turns right in a 180-degree curve and leads down into the Lambach valley. The bubbling Finsterbach flows into the Lambach, which winds its way through the forest, sometimes wide and fast, sometimes leisurely and narrow. Small rivulets with partly impressive waterfalls flow from the slope towards the Lambach and cross the hiking trail. Sturdy, waterproof footwear is recommended. The beautiful wooden markers show the way; after about 4 km, the lightly trafficked district road K21 is reached. For a few meters along the road, the hiking trail winds before a narrow forest path branches off to the right in the next curve. It goes steadily uphill, always accompanied by the bubbling stream. The narrow forest path measures about 300 m and leads back to the district road K21. We keep to the roadside and soon reach the old Plein train station. Here we switch briefly to the paved Maare-Mosel bike route, which we leave again shortly behind the station building to the right via a footpath. We pass the Pleiner Waldschlösschen, today a small but fine beer manufactory with a cozy restaurant and beer garden, inviting you to stop and rest. A little further on, the hiking trail turns right again; it goes steeply uphill back into the village. Especially for sections of the path soaked through by numerous water crossings, sturdy waterproof shoes are absolutely recommended.

At the Waldschlösschen (1912), their own beer is brewed today. Combined with delicious Eifel specialties, it is a highlight during the hike.
