By car via federal road B53, L192 or L193 to Enkirch on the Mosel.
By train (Easter to October): take the Mosel-Wein-Bahn to the Kövenig stop, then the ferry to Enkirch – current ferry times are available at the following link: https://www.enkirch.de/gemeinde-enkirch/buerger-info/personenfaehre/

By bus with line 333 (Moselbahn, Trier-Bullay) or line 720 (Bullay-Traben-Trarbach) to the Enkirch stop. About 150m to the starting point.

The start and end points of the side route "Leiermannpfad" are the romantic wine and holiday destinations Enkirch and Starkenburg.
From Enkirch, the path leads via the footpath to the Catholic monastery church "Klause." Slowly, it goes above the Ahringsbach valley to the junction of the stream path. From here, after about 200 meters, you reach the Upper Starkenburg Society Mill from the year 1798. An information board and a cozy seating area invite you to rest and linger. The path then leads back to the stream path and from there uphill to Starkenburg. In the village, you pass two old village bakeries before reaching the viewing pavilion. Here, a rest with a stunning view over the Mosel valley and far into the Eifel is offered. The route continues through the village and over the Kirster Höhe. Enjoy the constantly changing panoramas with views into the Mosel valley, to Mont Royal, and the vineyard locations Enkircher Zeppwingert and Enkircher Herrenberg, as well as the anchorage spot for wine connoisseurs Enkirch. The Leiermannspfad leads back to the starting point in the village via narrow footpaths and romantic trails.
In Starkenburg, you can reach the side route "Leiermannpfad" at the junction of the stream path into Schlossstraße and from there either go over the viewing pavilion and the Kirster Höhe or directly via the stream path towards the Ahringsbach valley to Enkirch and back to the starting point.
The return path partially runs over slate sections. These can be slippery when wet.
In the winter half-year, the path can be difficult to walk at times due to rain and moisture.
Plan a short detour to the Lower Starkenburg Mill. It's wonderful to sit here at an old mill right on the bank of the Ahringbach.
