This path leads from the Mosel riverbank in Trarbach through Mosel-, Weiher-, and Wildbadstraße to Bernkasteler Weg. We hike continuously uphill past the Gymnasium. At first, still with a view of the town and the Grevenburg ruin, we pass through orchards, abandoned vineyards, and forested areas to the so-called "Iron Wine Menu." After a section through the forest, the view opens up to the heights of the Hunsrück. Through an underpass, we reach a rest area on the other side of the road. Our path now leads back down to the Mosel. We follow the signs toward Bernkastel. Initially, we walk steadily downhill through the forest and then through the vineyards. Shortly, we reach the forest tavern "Iron Wine Menu." During the further descent, we have a wonderful view of the town of Bernkastel-Kues, the Mosel, and Landshut Castle. In the village, we can admire the historic half-timbered houses around the marketplace. The return journey can be made by boat or bus, and we will be amazed at how short the way over the mountain is compared to the return journey on or along the Mosel.

By car, drive towards the Trarbach district and park on the Mosel riverbank in Trarbach.
Moselbahn bus line 333 to Traben bus station. From there, cross the bridge and go through Brückenstraße to the start of the route.
You can travel directly to Traben-Trarbach, district Traben, by train.
You can travel by boat from Bernkastel to Traben-Trarbach and hike the return route.

The ground can be muddy in some places when it rains.
The path is good to walk in comfortable shoes. In rainy weather, it is better to wear sturdy hiking boots, as the ground can be muddy in some places.
This hiking trail also runs along the Mosel-Camino. Therefore, you can also follow the pilgrim’s shell symbol, which also leads you to Bernkastel-Kues.
