From Mehring as well as from the "Waldsee" Riol campsite, you reach the path via the Mosel cycle path. From the Mosel shore, a meadow path runs along the edge of the forest up to the deeply incised Molesbach. A steep zigzag path leads up the forest slope, crosses a forest road, and finally reaches the first rocks. During the ascent, about 200 meters of elevation must be overcome, and the viewpoint Felsenkreuz/ "Kumer Knüppchen" is located at an altitude of 322 m above sea level. From here, the climber has a magnificent panoramic view over Mehring and the Riol valley.
The route is 2.9 km long and classified as difficult.
Sure-footed hikers with climbing experience can try the steep via ferrata to be mastered.
The footpath partly leads through steep, rocky terrain and the difficult sections are equipped with rope protections.
The path is marked with "R14" plaques (circular route 14 of the Roman Wine Route holiday region) as well as red-white color markings.
Please use only this marked guidance.
You can also easily reach the municipality of Riol via the A 602. Leave the motorway at the Longuich, Fell junction, then continue via L 150 & 145 to Riol.

Parking spaces are sufficiently available at the turn-off to the Triolago recreation area. From there you reach the starting point at the Molesbach mouth after about 600 m (a playground is set up at the start-finish point).

Near the via ferrata is the recreation area "Triolago" with many leisure attractions such as an all-weather toboggan run, a ball and footgolf course, a wake park, playground, and gastronomy.
