Just under 36,000 readers of the renowned trekking magazine took part in the online poll in the ‘Most Beautiful Long-Distance Walking Trails’ category and voted the Moselsteig into 2nd place!  This means that, following its third-place finish in 2023, the Moselsteig can once again count itself amongst the “TOP Long-Distance Hiking Trails” as selected by *trekking* this year. The Hiking Research Working Group at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with German hiking regions, conducts an annual survey of hikers. The aim is to collect meaningful visitor data to characterise hiking tourism. Specifically, the survey covers questions such as:

How is hiking currently developing?
What are hikers’ preferences?
Who goes hiking, when, where and how often?
What do hikers expect from hiking hardware and software?

All along the Moselsteig trail, there are numerous towns and villages that are well worth a detour. Whether you’re just stopping for a bite to eat or staying the night, hospitality has a long tradition between Perl and Koblenz. Here you’ll find a list of friendly hosts in all price ranges.

There are plenty of stages, sections and circular walks that won’t be too much for little ones and will put adults at ease right from the planning stage. And once you’re there, you can rely entirely on the consistently excellent markings and signposting.
