The family-friendly Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path is, alongside the Maare-Mosel and Schinderhannes cycle paths, one of the most distinctive former railway track cycle paths in Rhineland-Palatinate. It connects the Hunsrück heights through the foot of the Hochwald via the winding and quiet Ruwer valley with the Moselle near Trier. The adventure playground in Reinsfeld and the numerous bridges also make the cycle path suitable for children.

From the train station in Hermeskeil, the route runs over the heights of the Hunsrück to Reinsfeld and over the watershed between Reinsfeld and Kell am See, which forms the highest point of the route. From Niederkell and Waldrach, the cycle path leads off the towns through the forested nature and soon enters the narrow, winding, quiet valley of the Ruwer. From here, it steadily goes downhill over numerous bridges. On weekends and during holidays, you can return to the starting point with the RadBus line 222 Ruwer-Hochwald.
Observe the traffic rules, watch out for other road users, and ride at a suitable speed, especially on descents. Be considerate of other cyclists and pedestrians.
